Now Offering Nursery Container Recycling!
Johnson's is proud to announce a new nursery container recycling program!
Like many of our customers, we have long been concerned with the volume of waste generated by the pots that our plants are grown in. The problem with recycling traditionally is that the containers are manufactured from a wide variety of materials, proving difficult for "traditional" recyclers-they just don't know what to do with the stuff. Economics has had quite a bit to do as well, as when plastic prices are high, buyers are interested, but when prices drop, there has been no market.
Fortunately, some key players in our industry have stepped up to make a program work!
Johnson's Garden Centers and Loma Vista Nursery, a wholesale supplier of quality Kansas-grown cold hardy plant material, are now working together to recycle any and all nursery container waste you have! Some of the pots will be reused in Loma Vista's container nursery production, others will be sorted and recycled in the traditional manner (see photo below).

So, round up all of your empty pots, save them when you plant, and bring them by. Together, we can make a difference.
