Hello again!

I remember Dad talking about the first venture into the Christmas season at the store. Mom and Dad had been to a showroom downtown, ordered Christmas decorations and soon the store was offering holiday items for the first time. We had a Christmas Shop just like that.

Not only did the store offer greenery, decorations, candles and accessories, the meaning of Christmas was and still is important to us. Items such as Fontanini Nativities from Italy are still a part of what we share. Biedermann hand cut brass ornaments (since 1970!) and Byers’ Choice Carolers are some of the favorite items for collectors we’ve offered for years as well.

Our staff has been busy the last few short weeks preparing for our Christmas Open House which runs over two weekends this year, November 3-13th.

Again this year we are offering a full season of holiday workshops. From our ever popular fresh evergreen wreath and bow making workshop, to our holiday porch pot, holiday centerpiece or succulent workshops, we have something for everyone. Or get a group together, and we’ll bring Lucy, our trolley, to your workplace or home for a private workshop. Call the store for more information.

Be sure to check in store or go online soon and find the workshop schedule to sign up for the seasonal workshops beginning on November 13 at both stores.

This Saturday November 5 at our 13th Street store, the Wichita Homebrewers are having their annual Learn to Homebrew Day from 10:00am-4:00pm. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to homebrew, come and visit with local homebrewing enthusiasts and watch firsthand how it’s done. Attend the event and get a special discount in our homebrewing department.

With savings throughout the Christmas Shop - 10% off all Christmas items and 20% off artificial wreaths, trees and greens, it’s a great time for a visit. Thursday evening we’ll be here until 8:00pm for the first look at our new themed Christmas trees. They’re always a favorite!

Our greenhouses are also restocked with a fresh shipment of houseplants from Florida to brighten up your indoors. See you soon!
