Hello, again!

As gardeners, we tend to deal with pests that attack our beloved plants. We spend time tending our plants, and love being in the outdoors seeing the beauty that we have helped create. It’s satisfying watching pollinators like butterflies and bees enjoying our plants just like we do. Most of the time we think of pests as insects that feed on our plants. However, pests can be more than that. A pest is any animal or plant that has a harmful effect on humans, their food or their living conditions. That certainly broadens the possibilities of living things that harm our living conditions.

I will admit that all living things can play an important role in our environment. Caterpillars that feed on our herbs turn into beautiful butterflies that we enjoy. Birds feed on insect pests, and they all contribute to the circle of life.

Moles and gophers are some other pests that can visit our lawns and gardens. While moles help aerate the soil, enabling life giving oxygen to our soil, they can wreak havoc with the supply of earth-building worms that you've got stockpiled in your flower garden. Gophers don't do much better; they have what appears to be an appetite for tulip and crocus bulbs. Moles, gophers and other animal pests such as armadillos, skunks, voles, ground squirrels, groundhogs, and other burrowing animals are pretty easy to repel and send on their way with ferti-lome MoleGo spray to send moles and other small rodents packing away from your lawn, garden, or flower beds. Use anytime when moles are spotted, in early spring, mid-summer, or early fall. The ready-to-spray container features an easy hose end applicator. All you have to do is attach to your garden hose and spray. One quart (32 oz.) treats up to 10,000 sq. ft.

Other controls such as eliminating the pests' food source, like the grub population in your turf, will send gophers to other areas where food is available. I also keep Bonide Mouse Magic both in the garage and in my classic Jeep CJ-7. It doesn’t get driven much, especially in the winter and I’m not wanting to do wiring repairs on it because the mice have found a fun place to play! Mouse Magic is also great for motorhomes and travel trailers that sit for extended periods of time. It has a combination of spearmint and peppermint, which gives it a pleasant aroma.

Whatever your needs are to repel pests around your place, we have safe and effective ways to accomplish it.
