I bet, at one point in our lives, we have all wanted to open a hamburger stand. My dream was to open the carry out across from my alma mater, Wichita High School North. It’s been available for sale several times in the past and the thoughts go through my head every time.
The local K-State Research Center has served the horticultural industries and consumers of south central Kansas since it opened. It was named for Dr. John Pair, who was their woody ornamental and turfgrass scientist.
I had just graduated from Wichita High School North, and my summer destination was to be Eikenlaan 12, Bennebroek Holland. My parents, along with the Heemskerks (Jon Heemskerk was our Dutch Bulb supplier at the time) had arranged for me and their son Niels to trade places for the summer.
